We’re Keele University and we’re different. Founded more than 60 years ago on the belief that we meet the demands of a new kind of society, economy and world, our principles resonate now more than ever.
Nestled in 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the UK, our big campus and small community provide an environment that is spacious, secure and supportive. The campus is self-contained with student residences, teaching buildings, library, restaurant and cafes, Students’ Union, shops, a bank, sports centre and health centre (operates with the clinical part of its courses from a separate campus at the Royal Stoke University Hospital). Coupled with our distinctive and flexible approach to teaching and learning, you will open your mind to challenge and build a broader based knowledge.
We successively rank at the very top of student satisfaction surveys; 1st for Student Satisfaction (2014 and 2015 National Student Survey),1st for Student Satisfaction with Course (Guardian University League Table 2017). This is because it’s more than green and lovely, it’s a place of research and academic excellence too. We teach in small groups, provide one-to-one access to our academics and value the quality of our teaching as highly as our research.
- 1st for Student Satisfaction 2014 & 2015
- 1st in the UK for Employment
- Largest campus based university, based in the heart of England
- Top 4% of the world’s universities
- 97% of our research classified as world leading or of international importance
- Welcomes international students from 90+ countries
- 43rd in the Times University Guide 2016
- 46th in the Complete University Guide 2016
The Keele International Student Scholarship is worth GBP 2,000 per year for undergraduate students and GBP 3,000 for postgraduate students deducted from the cost of your tuition fees.
The Scholarships are awarded to students who can demonstrate excellence in at least two of the following areas:
- Academic qualifications
- English Language ability
- Understanding of the course and motivation to study at Keele
- Extra-curricular or work experience
To apply for the KIS Scholarship you must have applied to Keele and been offered a place to study here. You must then complete a separate application form. KISS Scholarships cannot be awarded to students who have already started their degree at Keele.
There is no fixed deadline: the International Scholarships Panel, which consists of Academic and International Office staff, will consider applications on a monthly basis.

Kannikar, MSc Physiotherapy
I think Keele is the best university because it is ranked 2nd in the UK for Physiotherapy. Secondly, Keele is 1st for student satisfaction and I think this is good for international students. Finally my friend had recommended Keele to me; she really liked Keele and thought it was very friendly and warm.
I think the campus is very beautiful, it is green, beautiful and colourful with the flowers, and I like it. I find Keele is very friendly and the staff are very helpful – if I have any questions I ask and they help me.
Keele University has been named as the most affordable place in the country to be a student by marbles.com and ranked 3rd in the UK for affordable student accommodation according to THE.
As an international student coming to Keele for the first time, you’ll benefit from the opportunity to live and study alongside British students, in a safe and welcoming environment. We offer all of our September arrival international undergraduate students who apply by 30th June University accommodation (after this date accommodation may be still be available).
Halls and facilities
Both single and mixed-sex accommodation is available, and there is the option of en suite or shared bathroom facilities. We offer specially adapted rooms for students with disabilities. All rooms have wireless internet.
Facilities vary between halls, but all have their own common rooms and launderettes.
Safety and support
Student safety is one of our highest priorities and we have a 24 hour security team. Many accommodation buildings have student swipe-card entry systems and each hall of residence has a team of resident support assistants available during evenings and weekends.
We have single gender accommodation in our traditional accommodation blocks (rooms with or without a washbasin or shared 4 person flats). All of our premier flats and premier en-suite rooms are mixed gender since these rooms have their own bathrooms – kitchens are shared between male and female students.
